Donald E. Gordon
GEORGETOWN: Donald E. Gordon, 80, died Saturday afternoon at Merrimack
Valley Hospital. Mr. Gordon was the husband of the late Muriel R. (Holt)
Gordon.
Born in Groveland December 11, 1927, Mr. Gordon was the son of the late
C. Edward and Esther A. (Brocklebank) Gordon. Following his graduation
from Groveland High School he worked as a teller for the former Haverhill
National Bank. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Army and
was stationed in Germany as a member of the Finance Group of the 43rd
Infantry. Upon his discharge he joined the former
Western Electric where he worked thirty-three years before his retirement.
As an active member of his community he served on the Georgetown Board
of Appeals and Finance Committee, and was a driver for the Council on
Aging. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Central Fire
Company, Charles C. Dame Lodge, American Legion, the Georgetown VFW Post
7608.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his sons Douglas A. and David A. Gordon; daughter
Donna A. DeSisto and her husband Steven; grandchildren Heidi Johnson,
Kate DeSisto and Cheryl Castle; four great grandchildren; sister Marilyn
Kent and her husband Robert of Groveland; brother Richard Gordon and his
wife Janet of Salisbury, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by his brothers Ralph and Howard Gordon, and sister Gertrude Corthell.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Saturday Feb. 9th at
10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. Private burial at Harmony
Cemetery. At the families request there will be no calling hours. In lieu
of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational
Church, 7 Andover Street, Georgetown, MA 01833, or Central Fire Company,
